I am noticing, due to a much loved puppy, that my lawn isn't looking alll it should do. I was thinking that I may re-turf the patches where he has dug or killed the grass. I just need to know whether it is too early to do this or whether I should wait until the weather gets warmer.

Thanks

Hi there,
Generally speaking, turfing is usually done either in the autumn or the spring when there is sufficient heat in the ground. In about april time you will normally see garden centres stocking up with rolls of turf of different qualities.
In the mean-time you could try seeding the areas and cover with a fine layer of compost and some chicken wire on to to keep it from being disturbed. The grass seed is perfectly hardy and will just sit there dormant until it's warm enough for it to germinate, which at the moment may not be long, I saw some daffodils starting to flower today!
Good Luck Tbird+
