I've just had some turf layed today, a bit late in the year I know. I've been told not to walk on it for 6 weeks, but am also aware that frost could be a big problem. How long will it be before the new turf will be OK in sub-zero temparatures and what will happen if there are a few heavy frosts over the next few weeks?

We had our lawn laid just over a month ago and it took brilliantly. Our gardener told me that they often lay turf as late as November. Grass is a lot tougher than you think and unless we have extreme & continued frosts it'll be fine.

Just try to keep off it as long as you can, but 4 weeks is usually enough. And you should pray for torrential rain too. You can't water it enough!
