First thing Wizz, relax. You're not in any trouble, providing you weren't drunk or flouting the rules of the road (Driving the wrong way down a one way street etc- I have prosecuted someone for that before.) You obviously weren't speeding, and as long as you were in your own car, you should be fine. Contact you insurers and relay the details of the incident and they will handle the bureaucracy. Your premium will rise if you make a claim but any costs of this incident will be covered by it. Accidents happen everyday. If the woman makes a civil claim against you, it may cost you extra...but hitting a (Large) bus at a slow speed...she's probably trying it on!
It won't cost you any extra for personal injury claims than if it was for damage to vehicle.

The claim is not against you - it's against your insurance company.

Don't worry about it.
Sorry Ethel the claim IS against OP. In reality his insurance company will deal with it all for him, but it will be his name on the court papers if it gets that far. They will be acting for him, not for themselves.

As he has fully comp insurance the only thing he has to worry about is an increased premium and/or loss of NCB on renewal.

Thanks for your help guys .

Another thing was that my car had cat c damage prior to the collision. I didn't tell my insurance company as i didn't think it mattered. The car is written off and the insurance company are decieding how much to pay me.. should i let them know now that my car was a cat c previously?

thanks for your advice
Don't know whether you belong to the AA but I believe they have a legal service for member motorists. May be worth contacting them if you belong for some advice.
