So if you ring ITC or Ofcom up to complain about a tv show or advert it gets newspaper 'ban this sick stuff' headlines and possibly being pulled off tv like that cool cradle to grave Xbox advert. Does the ITC also deal with praise? Is it worth phoning up the ITC to say "I feel this controversial program is brilliant and did not offend me slightly"?

You can certainly contact them and do that. It might not make any difference. However, if 100 people complain about a programme, and 100 people paraise it, I'm sure OfCom, would be less eager to slap the programme makers wrists.
very few complaints can get an advert pulled off air as in the case of the cradle to grave x box ad. apparently that only had a 'couple of dozen' complaints but yet was still pulled. i work in the tv industry and through itc and channel duty logs we do get details of all compliants and all positive comments so, if you do feel like complimenting a show or advert then please do so, your comments will be seen by the producers and the broadcaster which in turn helps them to see what the public want and dislike. i think its still possible to get a copy of that ad on dvd. i will try to find out where from and post it on here if you are interested.
