Why do i seem to be obsesed with my childhood,im 27 years old but most of the time i wish i were 7 again!
Im alway buying films from my childhood, all the old cartoons and tv progs.I even buy toys from my childhood which i once had.
I grew up in the 80s and love everything about them, the whole atmosphere of when i was a kid seems so far away.I dont know wether its the loss of inocence or just the fact that i dont want to grow up.
Anyone else ever feel like this?somtimes i just wish i could go back and live a week as a kid again,i cant realy explain why my childhood was so great its just somthing i feel inside that i cant find the right explanation for.
Its like im home sick for a place that doesnt exist anymore.I know alot of you may find this weird and sad but i just wanted share this.

I know the feeling completely im 21 and still think of myself as about 18 lol! I dont think il ever grow up. Though sometimes i really think about being younger and i really miss it makes me feel kinda sad, i miss the times where i didnt care what people thought, didnt have worries or stress of work/money/bills etc. Even though my childhood wasnt spectacular just normal up sand downs one i still really miss it :(
I think that's a lovely question actually and there is nothing wrong with thinking back at happier times at all, its rather like having a safety blanket and thinking like this and collecting memories must bring you a sense of comfort. I also loved the 80s everything about them and its so much fun to reminisce - its nice to know someone of your age has had a lovely childhood.

Thanks you two,im glad im not the only one.
Be careful that you're not nostalgic because you have nothing exciting going on in your present! Old people look back and reminisce because they are summing up their lives etc, but if they were travelling the world they probably wouldn't! Make sure your present and future are exciting and full of great stuff for you to look forward to.

thanks scarlett, things are boring at the mo but im looking into setting up a business next year so that should keep me busy!
Lostboy,

I am in my 50s and I still feel like that, I think it relects on a truly happy childhood,I would love to go back in time and relive those days, especially now that my parents and grandparent have gone, I had a truly wonderfull childhood so I think I was very lucky.

Cheers Ray,like i said before i realy am glad im not the only one.
i had a crap childhood, i am almost fifty and wish sometimes that i was sixteen again, i think i am finally making up for my lost childhood, EXAMPLE for christmas i have asked hubby to get me one of those nintendo ite consoles in pink. i know it sounds stupid, but at my age i havent really experience much excitment in my life so am trying to make up for it. nect friday going to bimimgham to a cliff concert, then in , april the osmonds then on my 50th birthday in may, i am going up in a hot air balloon. its like my life has just started really, maybe its because i, such a simpe soul or maybe i've realized you only get one life and i dont wish to waste any more of it.
Question Author
Good for you devilwoman,it doesnt sound sad at all in fact i think its pretty cool.My mum is 50 next and she loves the osmonds, each to their own i guess LOL.
Cheers for the reply and continue to enjoy life.
Hey devilwoman, go for it,.never grow up completely, I hate to hear of people that had a crap childhood, have fun with you chrissie present, wish I had one of those games, Ray xx
lostboy -I think you'll find it will be as you've just said, once you get busy with your new business, that will take over as the most important thing in your life. For now, as there's not much doing, you are reliving those great times you had as a child. No harm in that at all - when the time comes those things will naturally take more of a back seat. Good luck with your new venture.

Quite agree with you devilwoman! Remember - growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional!
hey alll there must be some truth in the saying , you are as old as you feel, cos when i tell folk my eldest dauhter is 30 they dont believe me, they say i dont look old enough, i put that down to having a laugh, i like a good laugh and am quite a nutter really, anyone who knows me will tell you that, so i think if you laugh a lot, enjoy life and treat yourself a lot to whatever you can afford, cos you're worth it, then you will look and feel younger too, do you agree, lost boy and everyone else? mind you lost boy you dont need to pretend cos you are a baby still, lol
Question Author
I do agree devil woman and yes i am still a baby,i had to grow facial hair to try and look a little older because without it i look about 12 lol,i still get asked for ID when i buy a lotto ticket.
Cheers chicklin,i just hope it all works out.
I'm glad i'm not the only one! I'm 27 too and have started trawling ebay for things that I liked when I was a kid, ike buying a bill and ted films, the goonies etc I have a look on there and see if the things that I once had are worth anything and now and again buy some of them. The only problem with that is I have 3 sons what are they going to do with a flower fairy doll!
I know exactly how you feel and feel like that myself! I think i just miss the carefree happyness of it and being excited over the smallest things, yet when I was younger all I wanted to do is grow up!

I worry about everything now, im really paranoid and I often feel im isolating myself and getting depressed as Im not really where i thought i would be even though where I am is a very comfortable and good life and full of people who love me.Its a strange feeling isnt it, to miss your childhood so much but i guess its somewhat like looking back to move forward maybe?or just missing a simpler life?
