I guess it really depends on the specific circumstances but generally speaking would you rather regret not doing something or regret doing it.

As you say it depends on the circumstances but generally I guess regretting something you did. Although I don't believe in regretting anything if you can help it.

This a hypothetical question or you thinking of doing something? (Sorry, I'm nosy)

I'm presuming we're not talking regretting killiing someone ;0)
Of all the things I regret, I've never regretted taking chances and things going wrong, but there are a few very major things that are unfixble that I've done and really really wished I hadn't.However regret is a useless emotion and is ultimately self destructive, so I now use any feelings of guilt or regret to make sure I live my life in the best way I possibly can, on a very big scale. Regret in large quantities makes you a much better person than you otherwise would have been, and I am always very cautious of acting hastily or without exploring all the possible outcomes of something now as a result. So act carefully, charitably and wisely and with no ill will to anyone and you won't feel much regret with luck, but unfortunatley I was late learning that, but I have learned it thoroughly.
Im with China....

I'm a strong believer in not regretting anything i've done in the past.

Everything i've done has taught me something in the long run.

Regretting in my opinion just causes people a lot of stress and frustration so i don't see the point in it..
Hi hun,

well i believe strongly in living life to the fullest, maybe what ever it is you want to do wont come around again to do it, so go for it. If you dont your going to be pretty bummed, but also if you regret doing it then you'll get over it soon and it couldn't such a bad thing to regret because whatever it is i'm you'll still be alive after doing it.

I have done many things that most people would later regret doing, (drugs, sex, trouble with the law) but if it wasn't for those times i wouldn't be who I am and not as experiences as i am today. I learned from those experiences.take care, YOU CAN ONLY LIVE LIFE ONCE DON'T HESITATE TO TRY SOMETHING!!!
for me i regret more on not doing something when i have the chance....but when ive done something and regreted it afterwards you really cant take back what you did soo your best bet is to leave the past behind!!! :)
I would definitely regret not taking a chance, because you'd be left wondering 'what if' for a long while, and anyway taking chances and being spontaneous is what life's about (IMO). Even if you mess up, there's always a way out (you just have to be patient) ... I think making decisions (even when you're unsure) and taking chances every now and then is what makes a person stronger and a lot more resilent.
generally i only regret doing things in the short term, it is the things that i did not do that bother me over periods of years
