You're right, I couldn't,  but Trump and his acolytes did.

He couldn't even be bothered to memorise a single bible verse

The guy is a moronic con-man.

erm I think it  is USA as a favoured nation by God like Israel was in the New Testament.

He also endorsed the theology of prosperity- warning readers complex theology coming up !

Big argument about predestination - God knows who he will save and who not, coz he knows everything see? ( omniscient) - so why create people who will be damned?

but surely by repentance...anyway

anyway those who are to be saved are marked obviously and favored by God and it follows that such people will be marked on earth to show they are favoured by God - -  by prosperity

Yup -pray to God for sweeties and choccy eggs and you will be given.

Trump ascribes to this idea - hey he says he is VERY rich !

PP, thanks for your post.  Yep, money makes the world go round according to Trump.  I say that chocolate is nice too.

predestination does me 'ed in. ( talking AB now). Why does God predestine some people to go to Hell ?

The calvinists get their knnickers in aparticular knot on this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predestination_in_Calvinism

In Jesus' teaching in John 6:65 that "no one can come to me unless it has been granted him by my Father" is one biblical basis ( Calvin was keen on that, rather than 'a priest told me').

Archbishop Laud ( 1620) was thought to be an Arminian heretic - I think if you are high up , it is heresiarch.

"I think if you are high up , it is heresiarch."

Hence the birth of The Church Jesus Christ Of Ladder Day Saints.

I'm here all week.

I really don’t care whether Trump is a practising Christian or not.  I also don’t care whether he believes in the Christian God.  I even don’t care if he’s making money by selling Bibles.  All of that is immaterial to me.  What I do care about is fundamental beliefs and values.  And the fact is, Western democracies (or “representative democracy” in the specific case of the USA) are based on Christian values.  Those values are what makes our nations (Western Christian ones) the most free, tolerant and desirable nations to live in the world.  That’s why a significant percentage of the world’s population is voluntarily migrating to those countries with those Christian traditions.  They are, by far and away, the greatest nations ever to have existed in the whole of human history in terms of personal freedoms, liberties and general social cohesion.  And if Trump wants to promote Christian ideology, then more power to him I say.  I care not that he can quote a single line of Biblical scripture.  It’s completely irrelevant.

And let’s look at who is upset by this.  Oh, it’s MSNBC, CNN, CBS, etc.  The usual left-wing suspects when it comes to TDS.  They are pathologically opposed to Trump no matter what he does or says.  He could cure cancer tomorrow and they’d claim that he’d done the world a disservice by stopping people from dropping dead, leading to world population increase.  He could walk on water and they’d claim he was hydrophobic and therefore discriminatory.

For the record, I don’t like Trump and I’m an atheist.  But to disparage him for this is so pathetically partisan and petty that it really does show the depths that the mainstream media will stoop to in order to delegitimise him.
