Hello,

I am looking to change my utility provider (gas and electricity) shortly. Can anyone recomend a good company from your own experience and any that I should possibly avoid. I am not necessarly looking for the cheapest. I am also looking for a company with a good customer service record and preferably a customer service centre in the UK.

Thank you

We are with EON Next and find them ok.  Our deal means that we are £50 a year lower than the price cap too.  Customer service has been good and has always been in this country.

Octopus. Very communicative (email reminders to read the metter and submit readings online), regular emails re any price changes (just received a mail notifying that based on my usage they will reduce my monthly dd payment from £102 to £74). Of course I can't guarantee that all will be roses, but my personal experience is good.

I was forced onto E.ON Next when Npower failed and I have found them to be pretty good.   I have the email address of someone who deals with my account and I make sure they have accurate up-to-date readings ( I do NOT want a smart meter!) especially when the tariffs change, as they have recently been doing every three months.

Octopus suits me at present.

Been with Octopus for a couple of years - very good all round.

Which? has only three Recommended energy providers...Octopus, Ecotricity and "E" (the latter for pre-payment mainly). Octopus has been a Which? Recommended Provider for seven consecutive years.

If you do decide to sign up with Octopus we will each earn £50 if you quote the link below

We are with Ovo. No problems with them. I send them a meter every month (when they ask), and they take their money via a direct debit. As long as they keep the gas and electricity flowing, we're not complaining.

do NART do Scots  Power - their terrible reputation is well deserved. I did it once ( I thought it might be convenient to continue in a different name, from a fleeing tenant.) I am surprised I am still alive quite honestly

Pure Post Office - Of my last six payments  - five have been taken ( money out of my bank account) but have 'not migrated' to gas / elec acct. ( Double entry to single entry error) as in the Post Office scandal ? Yup - but the difference is that I can show a payment to Scots P - and the SPMs cdnt. £150 later I was still cut off.

The hello - girl was insistent that I listened to the pro-forma "explanation" and ( seemed to ) expect me to say " o yeah, that is OK then", keep the money it doesnt matter.....

I thought she was going to pull the abuse plug ( you know like the mods do on AB) to avoid giving any service. And I was going: " I paid me munneh - where's me leccy?" in a right common accent....and she was going like: listen, I said listen, will you listen to me yeah?

Mystic Meg ( of Utils) says - if you go scots power  - you will DDDDIIIIIIEEEEEE!

I was moved to Octopus from Bulb and I find them good to deal with.

I am with Octopus too. Happy. They ask for readings, they get them, I get a bill. Everything seems in order. Haven't had a problem, so no need for "customer services".
