William Hague has said the Tories might not win another General Election if they lose the coming one (which they will with a bit of luck.)..If they go into opposition this time there is no guarantee of the Tories ever making a come back.

He was scaremongering to get the Members behind Rishi - and it worked, terrified of losing their seats they curbed their rebellious spirits for their own self-interests - no change there then.

Such things have been said before but people need choice so if a party from one side of the political spectum fades you can be sure another will rise to take it's place. Usually the electorate opts to stick with the same familiar party after all.

Of course I agree with him. Might not doesn't mean the wame as won't. There is never a guarantee that any party that loses an election will make a comeback.

If you're (mis)quoting Sam Smith's The Writing's on the Wall, I'll offer Will Young's Anything is Possible

With the Labour Parties current Policies on Strikes, Immigration, Taxes, just to name a few, I believe that after a few months in Government people will realise what a dangerous party they are and will be clammering for change.

I think history shows most new governemnts get a honeymoon period and the benefit of the doubt, gramps, and more ofter than not win a second term, especially if they can pick the time of the election. I don't see things being any different if/when Labour win. It will take the Tories a long time to win back trust.

Dont worry, a year after the lie & bore circus party and its wrecking ball have brought the countryt to its knees with its lunatic ideas on fiscal policy, economics and open doors policies the idiots that voted them in will as always be wondering what theyve done ( they never learn )...The Conservatives will be back..and thats assuming they dont win the next election in the first place...

NMA 09.15 "Might not doesn't mean the Wame as won't"..OK.

In The Times yesterday there is a more sensible version of this, than the one I found a link to (because someone has to).

In which he isn't claiming that the Tories will never win again, which is silly, but that they can be out of power for a long time, and emphasing the shock of opposition to a party that has been in power for so long: the impotence, the lack of direction, and the frustration when you do find a direction that you cannot pursue.

And he should know: as he points out he is the only living Tory who has led the party after it left office.
