We're having paella with a surfeit of seafood. I'm not sure I have the appetite but I've defrosted it all now. We will have a toast to OH's granddad who passed away this morning, bless him.

What's amusing your bouche tonight then?

That's more or less what the little has had, William. He's clearly not in the mood for peas today because it's taking an inordinately long time to get them down him.

Pea'd off you might say.
Can I have your crispy caramelised rice at the bottom of the Paella pan please LadyCG. The Spanish fight for that like a Turkey carver claims his right for the parson's nose .I was supposed to do one this weekend as it is my signature dish but keep forgetting all the frozen seafood and chicken out the freezer to defrost. The Spanish have a name for the crispy rice at the bottom.
arroz crujiente is crunchy rice

I guard my crispy bottom with my life, Retro ;)

The Malbec is Argentinian, from Aldi, full bodied, warming and paired with a cheeky Red Leicester and oatcakes.

Soccarat is the Spanish name for the crispy burnt rice at the bottom of the paella pan. Delicious.
