My daughter and I fell out a couple of years ago, too long a story to go into, but despite regular birthday, Xmas, Easter etc presents and cards she hasn’t spoken to me since. Until today. I messaged her over something and she said ring me, and we spoke for an hour. My heart is just bursting, I want to cry I’m so happy. Xx

You should not have let this go on for 2 years.
A very pleasing outcome. You will sleep a happy bunny tonight I am sure. Long may it continue.
This is fantastic news...I remember you mentioning the sadness this caused you.

Gromit...Smow did not "let this go on".
So pleased for you, you must be so happy
Smow, I'm so pleased for you.
Did you post about this before as I seem to remember telling you I am in the exact same boat but I have lost count of how many years it has been since my eldest daughter stopped talking to me or even seeing me.
Like you, I carried on sending cards and presents until one day she wrote and told me quite firmly not to do this anymore.
I still don't know why this happened but anyway, I have now accepted that she does not want me in her life and I will probably go to my grave not knowing why.
Do you have any idea why your daughter has suddenly changed her mind?
Can you offer any advice to me?
You have given me a little hope and I'm really so pleased for you as I can imagine how you must be feeling.xx
Glad to hear. May it be the start of letting bygones be bygones.

So sorry for late reply to my post, but I was logged out and couldn’t get back in! Yes we spoke for almost an hour - I actually messaged her to tell her about my dads cancer diagnosis as I thought she should know, and she messaged back saying I could call her if I wanted to, which I didn’t expect at all. A lot of stuff was said about things that have happened over the years, on both sides, and I just let her talk and say what she wanted to say. I apologised for anything I may have done to upset her and she said she didn’t want me to apologise…… we ended up messaging each other a couple of times in the afternoon after the phone call, which was so lovely. Thanku all for such lovely lovely comments, I know a lot of you have been on here with me thru thick and thin over the years xx
Smow - that is wonderful news. So very pleased for you both.
Great thread. Send a link of this thread to your daughter to view, so she can see how happy you (and all of us) are that you have made-up.

:)
I was thinking of you this morning Smow. Just thinking how you must have felt waking up today knowing your daughter is back in your life again. I've spoken to a few people about being in this situation and apparently, it's not unusual for daughters to fall out with their Mums.
Wow, that came as a surprise as I got on really well with my Mum.
Anyway, I wish you all the luck in the world and that all will be well with you both going forward. Love Barsel xx
Lovely news Smowball.

Difficult situations arise in many families. It's nice to hear that you are reunited and friends again.
