Screech every time someone drives a car?
Even on dirt roads they screech.
I've watched lots of American shows but I still don't understand this phenomena.
Can someone please help me with this dilemma?

That could possibly be the reason Steg, never thought of that myself.

The other thing I used to look out for in American films in the 80s was the VW Beetle; there was always at least one. In particular in Bullitt Steve McQueen passes the same Beetle several times during the car chase.
