There are several rowing clubs here on the island. Once a year there’s a very well attended all island’s rowing event. Jolly good fun, don’t you know? No toffs, a few oinks, a family day out.
.one of my bosses was in that once. He sank.

Interesting exercise on internal dating. Which we did, for the elegiacs of Gallus when er we found them - written 30BC and reidentified 1980. Papyrus. JRS 1979

I thought the boats sank 1951 ( too old) and also I recollect one sinking within my life time....

One did - 1978 Cambridge. So that narrows down jno's bosses to nine ( 8 + cox).

It is a sorry tale of wise and unwise er virgins - Oxford took on water in training and fitted splashboards, and Cambridge didnt and lost. oops. Oxford like the sportsmen they were, boasted little because they felt they had won by default.

One of the greatest of the Great British Cack-ups - Like University Cack-up, correctly named. One team cheated in the final and so the others got the cup by default and their reaction was less - whooppee ! and more - ----so what?

O god do you remember the final of some athletic amateur crazy contest where the policeman won and had cheated......
PP, //and Naomi waded in feet first ( as one does when one wades) threatening burning at the stake or castration unless I was more mimsy. //

No she didn't. Naomi asked you, once again, to stop telling everyone they are uneducated morons - or words to that effect - but whilst I'm here I'll ask you - yet again - to stop telling lies.
The greatest Rower in history, Sir Steve Redgrave was the son of a builder! The left always go on about "class" etc but in reality it's them that re-enforce that concept by their inferiority complexes.
14:01, start removing insulting posts naomi, I wish someone would. Why is PP exempt from the rules?
He isn't. I do remove posts when necessary and I believe others do too.
Yes it was Cambridge who sank in 1978 not Oxford.
Oxford I think went for the early bath circa 1955.
Our school wasn’t really posh NJ. We had a big river that ran past it so it would have been remiss not to make use of it …
