Hi eeyoreblue, In order to get my facts right, I checked in my 'RHS PRUNING MANUAL' and found about four pages of detailed instructions with a seven step ilustration on training figs on wirea into a fan shape, which frankly to me all seemed a bit daunting! But if you follow a few golden rules, you should'nt go far wrong - Basicly, Figs fruit on last years wood,so prune out new growth in the spring and keep the centre open to improve light and air.
The roots (if this is an option like to be cramped / restricted.
