Sinus Congestion

Hi, I wake up every morning early on with sinus headache and 'bunged-up' head. It usually but not always goes once I'm up and about. I've tried using another pillow but that just hurts my neck! I bought an anti-allergic pillow but that didn't help. Does anyone else have this problem, and what can they suggest? Don't really want to go to the doctor. Many thanks for your help.

I am certain that other people do have that problem alfie, but thankfully i am not one of them.
It doesn't sound like a sinus headache but nothing sinister comes to mind.
My advice is to see your GP and get some X-Rays on your sinuses, which would seem to me to be an essential starting point.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Didn't really want to go to the doctors but guess I will have to if it doesn't get any better. Though if I got referred to an ENT specialist, could take a couple of years!! Thanks again.
Hi Alfie, before you go to bed, try steam inhalation for a few nights and see if things improve.
It will stink the bedroom out but Id try a few drops of olbas oil on a tissue/hankie/cotton wool placed on your pillow or somewhere that you can breathe it in as you sleep. I always find it helps my sinus congestion when I have it..and yes also dropped into very hot water then inhale the steam with a towel over your head!!
I have one of these. It's very helpful.

I use beconase about 15 to 20 minutes before I lie down and sterimar nasal spray generously throughout the day.

Hi, many thanks for your replies. Have tried steam inhalation and I keep a bottle of Obas oil by my bed! Haven't tried sprays though, so will give them a go, thank you.
