Can anyone remember a tinned product called "SLICE N FRY"? Mother reckons it was by Fray Bentos but I'm not so sure it was. We used to buy it in the Supermarket (near the Spam and Corned Beef etc)about 20-25 years ago and then it suddenly disappeared...It was very tasty and had potato in it too...was in a round tin...standard sixe like a standard size soup tin.

does anyone remember it and does anyone know if you can still buy it anywhere...i'm hungry.

I remember the product (I think) but I've not seen it in years. I'm not sure it was actually called "Slice 'n' fry". Campbells (the soup people) bought Fray Bentos in 1993 so I imagine it's been gone these last ten years at the very least..

Cool - thanks anyways - nice to see that someone else remembers it :)

Thanks

Hi
I've only just seen this question ..sorry.
Slice and fry was made by Libbys.
It's a large American company.
It's been sold over and over again since the 70s.
Specialising mostly in tinned beef ( Corned especially) the slice and fry product was Corned beef and diced potato designed to be ..yes..sliced and fried.
Don't think it's currently still made but surely easily reproduced at home !
