I've never heard of him, Minty, but how very sad. That's no age at all.

:-(
Very sad, RIP.
Sad day indeed. He has raised millions for motor neurone disease research through "My Name's Doddie Foundation".
A great rugby player but an even greater human being.
Condolences to his family and friends.
R.I.P.
a great man for what he achieved both on and off the field. A loss for all of you north of the border.
Sad news indeed. RIP Doddie.
It is a loss to all of us. Doddie was magnificent, both on and off the pitch. What he endured and achieved in the years since his diagnosis is truly amazing. His family, friends, supporters and medical team have been wonderful. He was a superb sportsman, husband, father and an amazing fund raiser for MND research and he will be be so sorely missed by many for an eternity. Hope Beckham feels inclined to make a donation in his memory...
RIP Doddie5 - a giant of the game both on and off the field.
Yes Minty a sad day. "She who must be obeyed" and I were talking about his death and agreed that besides being a top player, he was also a scrupulously fair and well-informed commentator. If he criticised your team for foul or poor play you could accept it. Because he did exactly the same for his beloved Scotland. R.I.P.Doddie Weir.
was playing rugby the cause of his mnd?
it's possible but he thought not
