.... put together your videos, then you get a soundtrack that is much too near to Gary Glitter for comfort ....

It's not actually GG, but it's an all too obvious reworking of his most famous riff - I wonder if he got any royalties?

that won't happen, inadvertently or otherwise - the rights to the song were sold in 1997.
to be honest, I'll have to take their word for it that this in some way resembles a recording made by a pervert half a century ago. If I'd been making such a judgment call in the 70s, would I correctly have picked the character flaws of someone who was around in the 1920s?
He is the leader.
Should have used Michael Jackson based music...he's the accepted face of paedophilia. The Guardian wouldn't have show any interest.

Thanks roy - very good :-)
In the interest of accuracy Michael Jackson is the face of homosexual paedophilia, acceptable or otherwise.

Shamon, eeh hee etc.

The Glitter Band did their own version.
To be honest though, it missed a certain urgency from his version.

Do you remember the days when the endless Christmas songs in December included "Another Rock and Roll Christmas". It was the best of them, though I despise his actions.
It's a nightmare when they make the trains run on time.

Based on what? He was under FBI surveilance for ten years and was found not guilty in two trials.

What is it, Douglas? He was accused and charged so he must be guilty?
I can never understand why someone's hit song suddenly becomes less popular because of their personal actions - either you like the music or you don't. Let's face it we don't know what anyone has done in their past lives.
The makers of the video say they used stock license free music so it was not Glitter/Glitter Band. Essentially, it is just a drum track. And though similar, it is not the same.

Sunak and his team get a pass from me. A non story.
It may have a passing resemblance to a GG tune but how desperate can they get! Nothing to see here.

I'm well aware that it isn't actually the GG track - as I said in my OP

The point I was making was that anyone with an ounce of cultural awareness would have spotted the all to obvious pitfall of using the track and said "noooooo" - but if you let interns on work placements do this stuff, then you get predictably frequent cock-ups.
