We get foxes using the garden as as run to get where the want to be. I don’t mind too much, though it drives the dog round the twist.

Yesterday we had a bit of turf laid at the top of the garden, £400 it cost. Well the ‘insert rude word’ have dug it up. Mr RR has put it back down as best as he can, but we can’t have this.

Is there anything we can do to deter them from coming in the garden?

£400 for laying a bit of turf? They must have seen you coming. If your garden is part of the foxes' "run" don't think there's much you can do apart from buying a 12 bore!
Get some chicken wire and peg it down over the new turf until it has rooted?
Is he allowed to pee in that part of the garden? I would have thought that dog pee would have some sort of repellent effect.

I had a problem of foxes in my garden and after many attempts at deterence I bought a device which detects movement and sends a jet of water forwards.it needs connecting to a water supply with a hose, and world of a battery. 100% efffective

OK!

Thanks to all that gave suggestions.

We're going to have to get some pegs and string, at least until the lawn has bedded in, but I think we'll have to eventually go down the route of Scramber's suggestion.

This fox in particular is so brazen it's unbelievable, he's not scared of the dog, though he won't come in the garden if the dog is out there. He sits on the roof of the shed next door, teasing him. Then we caught him sitting in my border without a care in the world...until we rattled the door handle pretending to let the dog out.

Wolfy, he may well pee there, but as it's only been down for 24 hours, he hasn't done so as yet.
Get hubby to go out and pee round the grass believe me it works to keep foxes at bay. My hubby did it for years round our chicken run.
The RSPCA website says that suitable animal repellents are widely available from garden centres and hardware stores:

I got a popular repellent (can't remember what it was called now), sprayed it on old rags and left them lying along the fences where the foxes got it. They thoughtfully gathered them all up and placed them in the middle of the lawn.
