Police have said the man was white but they are still trying to identify him following the shooting at 10.03am this morning.
They wouldn't say it if the man was black. Why?

Ok, I've no idea what all this dance stuff is, I was asking a simple question and so far, Barry has quoted from a Sussex and another local paper.
When you read in the national paper things like 'a young man was stabbed to death etc' I've never ever read a description of what colour his skin was and I wondered why on this occasion it has described this man as being white.
I don't have an agenda with this as some of you seem to think I have, but I do wonder if this had been a black man or a man of colour, there would be more of an outcry of the action of the police from black lives matter etc.
Anyway, perhaps it's just me so I'll leave it here.
Do you mean they wouldn't say any suspect was black or is it because the man is dead?
It used to say in the Journalists Handbook (or whatever it was called) Don't mention the ethnicity of a suspect from a racial minority unless you deem it absolutely necessary.
I could cite several egregious examples if I could be bovvered.
I'll just mention a thread that was on here. (Roy's, I think)
A young girl was raped in a public toilet. The police or local paper put out a description of the man describing him as well-tanned.
When they later released CCTV images, the man was clearly a, erm, person from the Indian subcontinent.
So they'd rather risk another girl being raped than, possibly, upset the sensibilities of the virtue-signalling classes.
