I live in the SE. I only have free view but I keep having to retune, all to no avail. I've lost several channels, they'll no doubt come back, but it is so annoying

Atmospheric high pressure and solar flares (of which there have been quite a lot recently) can affect TV reception, especially in the south-east of England, where the chances of interference from continental signals is greater.

In some cases it's simply impossible to do anything about it but a good starting point is always to check that you've got a really strong signal to start with. While that might involve getting a more directional aerial, with a greater number of elements, fitted, a far cheaper initial step is just to try a signal booster. To do so, you need one of these

tamaris, just a thought - does your tv aerial coax fit snugly into the wall box? I had problems and bought a new connector and it has improved my reception cheaply and easily.

It is a problem that happens in the summer. I used to experience it here in Norfolk but oddly this year i have had no problems, yet!.
We had a problem with reception on Freeview. It turned out that it was the aerial that was the problem and we had to have it replaced.

If you watch BBC channels, then when it breaks up you could watch on iPlayer.

If you don't have a smart TV you can put a Google Chromecast onto the back of yours for £30.
