Boris today back-tracked on all his anti-sleaze promises - no cap on MP second job earnings or time. Snouts back in the trough chaps - hurrah hurrah.

We definitely have too many liars of politicians
Canary - the polite term is riff-raff.
gromit: "Introduce devolved English Parliaments in the South East, South West, Midlands and the North." - are you out of your Vulcan mind? So Basically we'd end up with 4 more "parliaments" and 4 more "first minister"s like the wee un interfering and preventing effective government, not to mention a £gazillion more in spending for there wages etc.
Do not always agree with Canary, but do this time ! A lot of promises have been broken by this lot.
TTT

They wouldn’t be preventing effective Government, they would be delivering effective Government.
Decisions and implementation about my area (the North) should be made locally and not by Westminster and an army of London baureocrats.
The present system of our elected representatives having to live in London and travel to their constituencies in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland is bonkers. Incredibly wasteful, damaging to their families and hugely expensive to the taxpayer.
Situate them locally making decisions. A special department for national matters such as defence could vote on policy electronicly.
Yep, Karda!

The more, the merrier:
Create a parliament for each county --with its own glorious, shiny building-- from which representatives are automatically members of the House of Lords in London.

Get rid of the regional authorities of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Their shiny buildings can be gas chambers (already half-full) for research.
Furthermore, each county parliament would need a gaggle of interpreters for inter-county communications and their multi-national communities.
Unemployment would virtually disappear.
gromit, I can't agree, regional government is a disaster.
