As the PM is on the way there I thought a nice topical one today. Chicken Kiev is one of the most famous Dishes from the 18th Century Russian Empire but did you know it was actually created by French Chefs that were hired by Russian gentry to improve their cuisine? Sacre Bleu!

You should be a chaser.
Yes it’s not a Ukrainian thing.

Tho it is sold there largely because of the name
Yes, just as a delicious Vichyoisse and General Tso's Chicken and hope Suey are all American in origin.
Sorry, Chop Suey...not hope.
Oh come on, next you'll be telling me chicken tikka masala was invented in Glasgow.
Just like chicken Tikka Masala, made for the British palate.
//The dish’s origins are debated. Some believe that it was invented in the 1970s by a Bangladeshi chef in Glasgow, Scotland, who, in order to please a customer, added a mild tomato-cream sauce to his chicken tikka, which is pieces of boneless chicken marinated in yogurt and curry spices and served on a skewer, kebab-style. More likely, it derived from butter chicken, a popular dish in northern India. Some observers have called chicken tikka masala the first widely accepted example of fusion cuisine.//
Hopkirk - deep-fried Mars Bars are more credible!
Mamyalynne,
