Here is a still from a TV drama, showing part of the jury box. It got me thinking about the various different dress styles. On my first Jury Duty I wore a suit and tie, and as a result (being the only one so dressed) the rest of them appointed me as Foreman. On my second spell I dressed casual, and we appointed someone else.

What did (or would) you wear when sitting on a Jury.

Finally, here is what the Gov Website has to say on the topic

[i] There is no strict dress code and you can wear clothes you’re comfortable in, such as jeans and a t-shirt.

Very casual clothing such as shorts or clothing with inappropriate logos or slogans are not allowed. [i]

Sometimes people steal sheep here. And a horsebox got stolen a few years back. Nothing really happens here!
Pick pockets and porn at Knightsbridge, plus big fraud cases.
I did jury service twice. Once on 1980+ once in 1990. I wore a whistle in 1980. And was involved in a case. In 1990 I dressed in casual clothes, and just sat round for a week.
Do you get paid for doing jury service or is employer expected to continue paying you normal salary?
And I retired and on a pension (private) do you still get paid?
A black cap.
I've never been called but would probably dress smart/casual.

My niece served once & was shocked by the way some of her fellow jurors treated the affair so lightly.
// or is employer expected to continue paying you normal salary?//

NHS does and time off: where I was, matron rang up juryman and said come back and do a night on duty!
judgie baby said look matey - - - the judge's schlop-nana explained the bleeding obvious to muh-darm
Smart casual worked for me, no complaints from the usher or clerk
If you are retired you just get the basic daily expenses payments
Incidentally, apart from age, you will probably be excluded if you have had depressive/stress related issues and are taking meds such as Prozac.
I have never done Jury Service but if a did i would wear smart casual.
