I see a few really cute little dogs on the school run but yeah, think I'll stick with cats. They're more independent. Maybe I'll get one, one day when I retire......

I didn't read it fully. I was just astounded by the size.
Papillon dogs are lovely, quite small and very intelligent. They are used as service dogs sometimes for the hard of hearing.

poor thing. Idiots are breeding them bigger and bigger which is not good for their hearts or their joints
Lovely breed but sadly many poorly bred ones suffer from health problems - their lifespan can be from as young as six/seven to around ten, with very few living into their teens. They suffer from heart problems and also bone/joint conditions. They need a lot of looking after as youngsters to prevent problems developing, with the correct food and supplements to ensure their big frame grows in the right way. Unfortunately there are some backyard breeders who don't care about health and churn out puppies to fulfill the demand, and their owners end up with huge vet bills and often lose their dogs very young. The breed clubs will guide you to reputable breeders who care about the health of their breed.
It's about time legislation was brought in to stop these people from indiscriminate breeding. Long overdue. Poor creatures.

My Newfoundland *** lived to be just under 12 years. In all that time the only problem she had was a tumor on her gum which, sadly, was inoperable and the vet had to put her down.
That's good to hear Danny, but the problem is many people don't bother to do their research when buying puppies and then blame all breeders when things go wrong. If people took as much care buying a dog as they do when buying a new laptop or mobile phone then they might find that there are decent breeders out there not just in it to make money.
Lankeela, totally agree.
Newfoundland. Hairy but not that big. The mastiff is the heaviest breed
