I just got beat hands down in an online Scrabble game by a stranger. 'Well done, you're very good', I said.
'I'm really not, you're just very bad', he said.
I found it funny but have an inkling he meant it
I play on Scrabble Go which is merely adequate. There is a lot of bots which are difficult to identify from real players and stupid add ons which I ignore. I'm much prefer a pure version
I hate scrabble with a vengeance. It seems so pointless when non-English speakers can win just by learning a list of (usually very obscure) words by rote.
A friend used to play the "pure" game on-line incessantly but won't entertain Scrabble Go. He said you get lots of cheaters anyway.
PS. Barry I think it was just an off the cuff remark, after all he can't see what tiles you hold!
I also use scrabble go. It’s ok and I usually only play people I know, but if I accept a request to play a random person, I find that a lot of people play a few goes and then leave the game if I don’t ‘chat’ to them
Perhaps English is not their first language, and they were trying to see any that your gameplay was not that bad. You wouldn't want to be rude and say what they did. I think I would have played down the scoreline by claiming that I got luckier with the tiles.
