Does Iran seriously think they will ever be allowed to build a nuclear weapon?

TTT I'm about the last person you could describe as an apologist for Islam, but that guy (Salami) in naomi's first link is an army man, not a political leader & he is only stating his opinion that if Israel STARTS a war they will be annihilated.
Hamas in the second link is something else.
Question Author
athiest: "Is there any possibility that Hamas could wipe out Israel?" - tough one but always good to have ambition.
"Did TTT object to USA threats to destroy N Korea?" - nope but I would understand if that meant NK took steps to protect themselves.
"There's a lot of shouting goes on in the world, but it's similar to gorillas' chest-beating; often designed to intimidate so as to avoid conflict." - agreed but if the gorillas starts to acquire the means to carry out his threat then those threatened have a right to address that situation.
"Of course there are some people who look forward to a big battle for political or religious reasons, people who think that they will come out of an 'armaggedon' OK." - agreed the ones chosen by their "god" that's why they won't hesitate to use a Nuke if they had one"
"But I think Hamas is too weak to destroy Israel. " - yes but as I said above, the ambition is there.
I agree with most of what you just posted TTT. I also understand that Israel is in a precarious location.
The middle east is in an awful state and I suspect that it's because where humans first started to flourish and thus have been around there as human societies longer than anywhere else on the planet. I've a pessimistic view of mankind's ability to survive the crowding which is occurring and can only get worse. I don't think that humans will be capable of peacefully adapting to overpopulation, and a non-peaceful solution would be devastating for the human race in the short term (and possibly in the long term if nuclear weapons are widely used).
I think there has to be population restraint, and a serious addressing of resource sharing as well as education which teaches people to think rather than believe.
Easy-peasy!
Khandro, under-estimating the power and the influence of the military is a mistake.

Good luck with that.
Question Author
athiest, don't obsess about population growth, we have more or less reached peak child. Population will grow some more but inevitably fall back on it's own. It will never exceed 11bn. Ok it's still too much but it will not continue to grow indefinitely. This is a very helpful video:

The indigenous population of Europe is at a standstill, in fact it is in decline, while the immigrant population is increasing exponentially at a fast rate. Muslims are projected to increase as a share of Europe’s population – even with no future migration

Go figure!
