Just had a new fan put in one of the ovens and had my card ready to pay when the repair man asked for cash or a cheque. Had to go upstairs and look through the files to see if I still had a chequebook and luckily found it. The last cheque I wrote was in August 2013. The shop we bought the cooker from is closed at the moment but they are still doing repairs but no means of accepting card payments. Happy with price of £20 callout, new part and labour total £88 but it threw me me when he asked for a cheque.

Can't remember, years ago, the only time I handle cash now is the couple of £1 coins I keep in the glovebox to get a supermarket trolley free from the stack.
