Delivered by the pharmacy? If you do, do they let you know when they are going to deliver?

PS boots is free and operates right through England regardless of whether there is a local branch. They keep a record of when to request meds and do it directly with the GP. If a review is needed then the GP tells boots who email you to let you know and it all gets done well in time so you don't miss out on a prescription provided you get on and get the review sorted. Sis' happen by phone.

andres Have just phoned the pharmacy and they said once they get the prescription, it can take up to 4 days for them to deliver so they recommended I order in plenty of time.
They also said that if I'm in the shower etc, they will push a note through and then I can phone them to re-arrange delivery.
Have just ordered my meds, so we'll see when they arrive.
hang in there and stay dirty!

woofgang, I can only order 1 month at a time, but I was wondering if your sister gets the same meds every 2 months? I don't always order everything on my prescription, and I order what I need online. The GP accepts my request and sends it to the chemist who will then deliver it to me in one of their little vans, so it doesn't go through the post at all.
Question Author
jno, I will do my best. :-)
there are plenty of companies that do EPS electronic prescription service by post. it works broadly as woofgang has described. It's literally just the same as sending your script electronicallyto a pharmacy then them dispensing then. The dispenser is just different and not your local chemist. Local pharmacies will use their own person to deliver prescription to your house from the local branch, whereas the dispensers that do it by post just post it out centrally by RM

Bednobs so, I would order online what I need for the month and that would go to the GP who would accept / refuse, and they would then send it to a company that does EPS and they would send it in the post to me. Hope I've got that right. If I have, then I wouldn't want to do that because if there was a problem with the post i.e strikes or staff being off work, then it could become unreliable.
^^^barsel--I tried to point this out . There are 28 blackspots now where they are struggling to deliver post. Post offices are having to close in some areas. Google and you will see.
the pharmacy might also have staff off work though? Although I guess you could still go there if that happened
barsel she has the same every time but you can choose to change stuff, its just that she doesn't need to. The advantage for her is that she can also change her delivery address. She stayed with me throughout first lockdown and just got the meds delivered here instead of to her home. Boots use who they need to, they understand that people need their meds. I am glad you have found a local solution that works for you. given that there are so many free services and pharmacies get paid well to dispense, I am amazed that any of them get away with charging.
Yes and yes

woofgang, just phoned my next door neighbour for a chat and because she isn't shielding, she goes past the shops everyday when she goes out for a walk, so she has kindly offered to call into the pharmacy and give them my mobile number and ask if they can text me on the day they will be delivering, so hopefully I will at least know which day it will be.
The system I use is excellent. I order repeat prescriptions online using PatientAccess which goes straight to my GP. The GP sends the electronic prescription to my nominated local chemist who deliver it next day using their own delivery driver. Free and totally reliable.

If I need anything not on prescription I phone my chemist, pay over the phone and the driver drops it off same day or next day at no extra cost. Fabulous service from Jhoots chemist.
Barsel, coudn't you have phoned your chemist and asked them to do that?
Question Author
barry that's exactly how I order my prescriptions on Patient Access.
I've phoned this pharmacy several times trying to get this sorted, but the elderly lady who answers the phone doesn't seem to understand what I've been asking about, she didn't know what Patient Access is. ( I know she's elderly because my neighbour told me) I didn't ask my neighbour if she could call in for me, she offered too, in fact she offered to collect my prescriptions for me but I said no, I didn't want to put her to any trouble. Hopefully it will work out in the end. Hopefully they won't call today as I'm off to the hospital for a scan. Just wondering if I leave a note on the door if they will leave it with my neighbour, but they may not do that.
Just been to chemist to collect Jens meds
Barsel, the chemist doesn't need to know about Patient Access as that system has no contact with the chemist, only the GP. It is the GP that sends your prescription to your nominated chemist.
