because it upsets me that is has finished and I like to have the last one to look forward to (even though I never read it). It means I can have the storyline end the way I want it to.

I have finished the penultimate book in the Katie McGuire series by Graham Masterton. Do you have any quirks relating to books? I feel quite bereft when I reach the end of a very good book

i refuse to read the last in the modesty blaise series - both her and Willie die (i think)
I can't read a book without turning to the end after the first chapter or so to see what happens (similarly i can' watch a film without knowing the ending)
same here, bednobs, I like to know how a film or book is going to end. It's partly because I like to appreciate the way the plotting is done to get me there. And yet there's this mass anti-spoiler movement where everyone's outraged if anyone discusses an ending in public. I just want to tell them "switch off the internet if it upsets you".

I don't read the end of the book in advance but if a book has a particularly twisting and involved plot I will start again from the beginning.
So many books, so little time.
I bet you cant do Oliver Twist because the little doggie dies
Nancy having the crap beaten out of her is OK - it is just a book - and not real -
Bonker - no bullseye, sozza I was thinking of Saqd
My quirk is one that annoys others. Despite owning many bookmarks, probably gifted by those I annoy, I mark my place in a book by turning the corner.
I think it makes a book look read and loved. My family and friends don't.
Not with books, but I just watched "The Big C". I avoided it for ages thinking it might be too depressing or draining. But I love the main actress, so gave it a go. It was brilliant. I left the last episode for 2 days, because I didn't want it to end. Very very unusual for me.

I, too, turn the corners of pages, read them in the bath, squish them in my bag or pocket. My much loved books are battered.
yeah I gave birdsong er a bath
it sounded OK afterward ( firs world war - lots of dead people)
no I have a bit of paper with "book mark" on it

Connie Rodgers taught us age 6 in the Tindall Hall, (classroom for sixes) to write the page on the bookmark too....
Entirely opposite view I'm afraid Barry. I want to read the whole series once I have read the first novel if it is good. Finished Snuff last night the last in Pratchett's series that are dedicated to the Watch and Sam Vimes(blackboard monitor and celebrated eraser of words). I am still furiously waiting for the finale from Patrick Rothfuss after being absorbed by the first 2. The Name Of The Wind, and Wise Man's Fear. It has been a 3 year wait up until now but Doors Of Stone, the last in the trilogy, is almost done. It would be nice for the summer on a beach, or the quay in St Ives.
Question Author
I hope you do get to the beach this summer, Togo :)
I live just a few minutes walk from the beach Barry ... but a beach in St Ives would do me nicely, with a good book and my panama thank you very much and the same for you.
