Hey peeps my oh just bought a new drill which uses the same battery as our saw. It says that you can actually drill holes in wood but seams you can just attach drill bits to screw in screws. How do you use drill bits? http://imgur.com/gallery/MoHmIvJ

Horses for courses UK. I don't seem to need to drill so much these days, particularly masonry or metal, so I don't have much need for a monster drill. For instance anyone who needed a good core drill would need a drill that was not an impact drill and was able to be adjusted to various speeds. Myself ... I find I use my multifunction good old Black and Decker mainly to...

Togo - that's the same one twice.
I'm with Zac. I find it hard to believe that anyone is so naive about DIY!
Ahh BH 14.06 should have been this. Good gear.

why? People only learn by doing/asking. You don't know what you don't know. I myself would have no idea about drills/chucks/impact drivers, but if I needed to use one, I hope I could ask people here and get a nice answer
you might almost think this was a Q&A site, bednobs.

Hey Togo :) that last dewalt one costs 40 Euros yet we can buy a drill for 60. Nice to know we can buy if wanted to though thank you :) If it was like 20 we would probably buy one.
I often use an impact driver to drill out holes for mortice locks.. No problem if you use the right drill bit with a hexagon shank..

There are much cheaper ones for under a tenner if not much drilling is to be done. But watch the drill size range. Some of the chucks take a range of very small drills and some a range of larger sizes. The beauty of the chuck adaptor is that you are not swapping, or needing to charge, two power tools to do one job. i Think that if I were starting again I would get an impact driver and a quality chuck adaptor. I would also be looking for a proper powerful battery, at least a 4.0Ah.

Togo wow thats interesting indeed. a power driver is as good as a drill with a chuck? For big jobs we have a power chorded Makita thingy. You would buy a 40 euro chuck over a 60 euro separate drill? A chuck would be very handy but do you lose a bit of performance?
I bought myself a lovely cordless drill and a set of different coloured drill bits, a couple of years ago but every time I use it I have to look up which of the drill bits to use.

Not everyone knows how to use a drill.

For instance anyone who needed a good core drill would need a drill that was not an impact drill and was able to be adjusted to various speeds. Myself ... I find I use my multifunction good old Black and Decker mainly to drive in screws for fencing and gardening etc. and only drill the odd bit of timber, so I could get along nicely with and impact driver and drill chuck. I already have a very good set of drills for wood, masonry, and metal anyway, including spade drills for door furniture etc. Ya makes ya choice, and pays ya money.

Thank you for the answer. I do have a question though the silver round thing on our ryobi impact driver pulls forward so thescrew but sits deeper but when you drive it then the round silver think goes back so the screw driver bit is kind of flimsy and loose. Do you know how to use it properly? Its a mystery to us and nothing on the instructions
twist it to grip the bit.
