Am i getting enough exercise?

I am trying to go swimming three times a week, is this enough? I try to go for a run or cycle at other times but its a bit hit and miss.

When i went swimming last week i did 60 lengths in just over an hour, am i doing too much or too little?!

well it sounds about right steve, it will help you focus on your life more as swimming is one sport u can do and think about other things at the same time. Well done.

How do you know it sounds ok ALIJANGRA?, surely it depends how long the lengths are!

How long are the lengths STEVE? How old are you? How good a swimmer are you?

I am 65, I go to our Gym pool three times a week which is 18 metres long, I do 90 lengths freestyle which is 1 mile in just under one hour, I then do (after a few minutes rest) 4 lengths of each stroke, Backstroke, breastroke, Butterfly then crawl.

I reckon I am fit.

STOP WORRYING!!!!!!! Seriously tho - it's easier said than done - i know that.
It does 'sound' ok - but as toureman says - depends on lengths etc. It is recommended that you do about 3 lots of 20 minutes of boisterous exercise per week. You would know if you were doing too much cos your body would let you know.....

well i try to get a 20 min run in once a week

I am not as great at swimming as i used to be so i do mainly breast stroke rather than crawl.

The pool is 33m long so 33x60 lengths is 1980 metres, just under a kilometre which is 2.2 miles. I did 150 lengths last week 30 then 60 on two days.

maybe i am setting the bar too high, i will try to continue with this swimming and incorporate other activities as i go on.

Sorry if I put you off swimming, slight mistake in my timings.

I do the 1 mile in under 30 minutes and now and again I do 2 miles in under an hour.
