An anti-racism campaign group is urging Britons to “take the knee” on their doorsteps for a socially distanced protest in solidarity with protesters in the US.

Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) has organised the protest for 6pm on Wednesday as part of a day of action against discrimination in response to the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

I won’t.

these protesters look overcome with grief:

//George had fentanyl and meth amphetamine in his system according to the autopsy. They haven't, yet, said how much.
Just supposing, he swallowed whatever he had when the police pulled him over (as many criminals do to destroy the evidence)
Would that make any of you reconsider your attitudes? //

If that ever becomes something other than a thing in your imagination, let us know and we'll consider it. In the meantime we just have the facts that a man knelt on another man's neck for 9 minutes until he suffocated.
I feel no affinity with the rioters and looters, none of which changes my opinion.
A still from an old Keenan and Kel proves nothing.
so there's been no looting then doug? right oh!
I've just posted this on another thread but I'll repeat it here.

No sympathy whatsoever for criminals. Other people have died as a direct result of this. I see no standing or kneeling or protesting for them.
Try not to be quite so gleeful, old fruit.
What are you all talking about? A person had someone kneel on his neck until he died, despite him and lots of bystanders telling the murderer that he clearly couldn't breathe

What The Funicular has looting or anything got to do with that? Criminal scum will always use any opportunity of unrest to loot stuff. How about speaking up against the crime of murder as well as the crime of spending a forged note or stealing a television?
There's no defending the actions of this copper.

Looters?

...hit them with rounds of rubber bullets and lock them up.
The rioting and looting is deplorable. It's possible to be concerned and horrified about that at the same time as being concerned and horrified about the appalling standards of policing. Petty crime doesn't carry a death sentence, dying in an arrest is not justice, and the role of the police is to ensure that justice is delivered. In killing Floyd, or in directly causing his death, the police failed in their duties and responsibilities. Nor is this an isolated incident.

What is so hard to understand about this?
and the role of the police is to ensure that justice is delivered.

Is it?
They aren't the only ones involved, of course. But they have a pretty important job, do they not? Keeping the streets safe, ensuring that criminals are brought before a court, gathering the necessary evidence and so on. There are no circumstances in which that was achieved by the actions of Chauvin et al.
//and the role of the police is to ensure that justice is delivered.

Is it?//

No, it isn't. That's what the courts are there for. Whether they do it or not is a whole new debate.

If the good law obiding police could make a start with refusing to cover up for the bad police that commit crimes that would be a start.
