An anti-racism campaign group is urging Britons to “take the knee” on their doorsteps for a socially distanced protest in solidarity with protesters in the US.

Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) has organised the protest for 6pm on Wednesday as part of a day of action against discrimination in response to the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

I won’t.

// if he was not resisting none of that would be necessary //
pure classic TTT gold! as retro trumpeted a day or so ago(*)
love it - starts off as crazy and ends up as mad

(*) I am only quoting a AB stalwart
PP: "police running and beating journos " - .....and that's bad because?
ok ladies I'll leave you to your TROB hand wringing, have fun!
Right oh.
I think 3T has turned himself into a right wing parody account.
Quite. All the evidence shows that this was a violent and unfit officer responding disproportionately and fatally to an incident that need never have got even close to this far, and yet somehow it is still Floyd's "fault".
Shame Mr Floyd saw fit to break the law in the first place. Had he been a law-abiding citizen none of this would have happened.
^ have to agree there and NO, I will not be bending the knee!!
Shame he wasn’t born white. Then this wouldn’t have happened.
Except now here on thi thread can I see TTT ctually saying it is his fault. Only those having a go at him are.

What he is saying is that if Flyod had not committed the crime he would be alive. I think that is most likey to be true.

And on the subject of the murder charge, are you all saying the cop went out to kill Floyd? Might well be true as it appears he worked with him at some point but maybe we should let the Courts work out what went on, leading up to the arrest and why he was help like that for so long.

Unfortunately, as as been shown in the past, video evidence can lie or distort the truth which is why we should wait on an investigation before jumping to any conclusions one way or another. Kangaroo Courts are not good for any one in any circumstance.
"Shame he wasn’t born white. Then this wouldn’t have happened."

Ah white people never arrested violently then eh?

Good God.
There's no answer to that sort of broken thinking. You should not end up dead if you have used a counterfeit banknote. As soon as the cop decided to put his knee on Floyd's neck and keep it there it stopped mattering. There can never be an excuse, or a mitigation, for killing someone in such a way.
//You should not end up dead if you have used a counterfeit banknote. //

If he hadn't used a counterfeit banknote he wouldn't have ended up dead.
//What he is saying is that if Flyod had not committed the crime he would be alive. I think that is most likey to be true.//

And all we're saying is that if Officer Chauvin had not aggressively assaulted Mr Floyd, he also would still be alive.
// And on the subject of the murder charge, are you all saying the cop went out to kill Floyd? //

I'm not sure, but then again that's why the charge, for now at least, is "third-degree" murder, which, in Minnesota, is defined as "...without intent to effect the death of any person, caus[ing] the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others...". It may not have been that the cop intended to kill Floyd but it was pretty obvious that he was going to succeed.
I agree that if he hadn't used the counterfeit note he wouldn't have been *arrested*. What beggars belief is this implicit acceptance that arrest can sometimes end up in death, to the point that anyone who dies needlessly in an arrest just had it coming.
He probably thought that he would be protected by the 'blue curtain' that extends throughout American police forces.
The fight against racism has evolved over the years and these incidents highlight that we take 2 steps forward in trying to eradicate it and then 10 steps back when a person dies whilst being arrested.

Black lives matter does not imply all other lives do not. It simply highlights that racism against blacks is still rife and will be until attitudes change.

No arrest should result in a death. I'm sure there are many ways to restrain someone resisting arrest and pressing your knee on their neck for 9 minutes certainly shouldn't be one of them.
Oh, but tigger...it's the poor guys own fault he was killed in police custody. That's how the police...and some on here...absolve themselves. Shameful. That's the attitude thats been going on for generations.
I was once arrested because I resembled someone else...good job I didn't resist the arrested or else it would have served me right if I had ended up ever so dead.
