Lots of elderly people now not receiving their pensions.

Sorry if that seems a bit callous but just wondering if a anyone has calculated the possible savings.

//That's how I read it. Lots of elderly people die - fewer pensions to pay out.//

erm think of bath ( or barf to southerners) with taps on and plug hole openish/

taps and plug draining same amount - level of bath sozza barf remains the same - taps greater - then the level goes up

and that is the case wiv the old - there are more getting old than dying and so that is why there is all this fol-de-rol about raising pension age. so they er pay out less to more

so yeah - fewer pensions to pay out.
in the sense of less-more.
well hey readers - this is answerbank !

//Does the government pay for care home fees if residents have no savings? //
APG
Both my parents ended up in Care Homes and towards the end my mother was transferred to a Nursing Home.
They saved hard and bought their first house when my dad retired.
We had to pay the full nursing home fees for both parents.
Those who allegedly had no savings and lived in social housing had part of their costs payed by the local authority ,the balance paid ,by people like my parents. My parent's higher fees subsidised those who never bothered to purchase their own property to hand down to their family.
Never bothered may equate to couldn't have afforded. My mother worked at a low paid shop job and raised my sister and I without holidays, or car or any of the things people seem to take for granted. My savings went on ensuring my husband's last year's were as good as possible and they were tiny, unable to find any money towards my mother's care we are caught between a rock and a hardplace. I agree others should not be charged high fees to compensate but if she needs residential care I am not sure what to do.
if she needs residential care, the local authority will pay rowan. You could be a millionaire and still not be forced to pay for her care (although if you were richer you might want to)
