unfortunately, limes don't ward off scurvy. Lemons do. But limes and lemons were considered the same fruit in those days and I think it was a while before they figured out that yellow ones worked but green ones didn't.

it was vit c jno both lemons and limes have that.
I've worked at RAF Croughton several times with my truck and the thing that gets me is that they drive on the left inside the base (as they do in other US air bases I've worked on), so why do they 'forget' as soon as they drive out of the gate?
If you take a virtual drive around outside the gates, they have road signs on both sides of the road (i.e. if drive on the right you still see a sign on your side of the road) ...

Probably a lot more could be done with the signage to avoid accidents.
It doesn't show on your link Ellipsis, but there are now arrows on the main road showing which lane is going in which direction.
sddsddean, at 16:23 an interesting observation, are they driving right hand drive vehicles or left hand?
A mixture Vulcan. Mainly UK RHD cars, but some US LHD...especially airforce vehicles (eg pickups).
While serving in Germany I, and other servicemen, had no trouble driving our right hand drive vehicles on the right of the road.
Thanks sddsddean, the reason I asked was because in 1962 I was on Christmas Island, in the middle of the Pacific, which was "borrowed" by the Americans to carry out their nuclear weapon testing programme. All the roads on the island had been built by the Royal Engineers, complete with white lines etc, for the British tests in the mid fifties. The first American shipload of equipment that arrived contained about fifty jeeps and in the time that followed there wasn't a week went by without at least one American killed by driving on the right. It got so bad the top brass got together to find a solution, the Americans suggested everybody drove on the right, the fallacy of which was pointed out to them; it would be the Brits being killed. They reluctantly agreed to try our solution, that they drove our landrovers. To the delight of everybody no more Americans were killed, they said sitting on the right side it seemed more natural to drive on the left. Of course the crabs weren't happy they continued to be killed both sides of the road.!!
