Fox was bang on when he said we are one of the most tolerant nations in the world. For racism look at Africa, Russia, former soviet bloc etc.
//I stopped watching when they increased the number of panel members. It lost its “tightness” after that.//

No-one gets time to say anything much, except Fiona Bruce of course who spends the whole time interrupting people while they're answering a question, to tell them to answer the question, like most TV journalists.
AuntPolly//if I have an issue with someone, the colour of their skin is usually if not always totally irrelevant!//

So you are a little bit racist then?
One can indulge in casual racism without necessarily being intolerant.
I mean we’re hardly talking the BNP or NF here
Cloverjo I admit sometimes yes. When I hear of the Pakistani gangs grooming young white girls , or Religious leaders stirring up hatred with lies and half truths I have racist fluttering's. I try not to but I guess I'm just human.
"Everyone's a little bit racist sometimes.
Doesn't mean we go around commuting hate crimes."

F-you autocorrect.
Love it.

I detest, with an all encompassing passion, when an 'ism' or an 'obe' is employed when there is no ism or obe.

It is merely a device used to stifle debate by the stupid.

Unfortunately I have seen this device employed on this site over the years so many times it is laughable, and all it simply means is that the person using it (a) doesn't understand the meaning and (b) has well and truly lost the argument.

Only recently, and if I could be arsed I'd provide the AB link, there was a member, who's name I can't be bothered to remember, who suggested any questioning of transgenderism was 'obic'. They, of course, were and are an idiot, but it neatly demonstrates that ANY questioning of anything that is perceived to affect a minority is heresy.

Frankly, it's pathetic.
If it’s a device to stifle the stupid it doesn’t seem to be working
Well said Mr. Fox. This has been creeping in for many years now and has become intolerable.
Fox among the chickens.
I think deskdiary meant it’s a device used by the stupid to stifle debate - and it is.
^^^Indeed Naomi.

I pressed 'Answer Now' too quickly. Note to self...read, re-read, and then re-re-read.

But fundamentally I think my post was clear(ish) enough, in that people who nasally whine about a perceived slight against [insert a 'persecuted' minority of your choice here] when there is no persecution are, for want of a better description, bedwettingly pathetic.
With absolutely zero sense of irony, Lily Allen has said that she is sick of luvvies like Fox forcing their opinion on to other people.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much of a total tit is Lily Allen?
12.

Mr Fox was told that he could not possibly pass an opinion of whether the treatment of Ms Markle was racist because he is a "privileged white man". He rightly too umbrage at that. He didn't force his opinion on anybody.
I am reminded of a time (in the 1980s) when I walked into a classroom on a 'cover' lesson (didn't know the class or vast majority of the kids). As I opened the door there was a general scrambling for seats - except for one kid who was dancing on a table and continued to do so. He ignored my first, polite request, to come down and settle down - so I vehemently sent him out of the room (this would obviously result in a punishment) and as he exited he yelled out 'It's because I'm black!'. So were over half the class by the way.

Where we are now is a development of this. Completely out of order by the easily-offended mob and it needs stamping on now. Been left far too late i.m.o..
