I have two of the above units one upstairs and one d/stairs.For the last couple of days I can't phone out or receive any calls. When I lift the receiver to make a call all I can hear is a "mush" sound. As is obvious I can still get the internet, which poses the problem "is the fault internal or ex?"Thanks.
have you got another phone that isn't cordless? You need to unplug everything and plug it into your master socket. If the phone works than the fault is within your house, if it doesn't it a line fault. Plug the same corded phone into your other sockets to check that they are working and if they are then its the cordless phone that is the problem. I keep an ancient corded phne for this purpose. You can get one on amazon for less that a fiver, around 7 quid in argos
You could always visit BTs site and carry out a line test.
The results are not always acccurate though.
Another option would be to remeove the front plate from your master socket and plug a known working corded phone into it. If you get a clear line then you know the fault is internal. If not then the fault is outside.
I know some people that had the same problem. They ended up having to get a new phone. Nothing wrong with the line or anything. The BT phone was just crap.
I've connected a phone with the cord to the master connection and I am able to use the phone, which proves that my problem is internal. But at the moment I've been unable to pin it down.
There will be a broken wire or loose connection somewhere, If you are competent, use an phone extension lead to track down which cable has a break in it. Normally BT only use 3 of the 7 seven available cables, so you can rewire the phone outlets using existing cable with different coloured cables.
Can I suggest you also take the battery out of the primary phone for 10 seconds and re-insert. That has corrected a couple of issues I've had in the past with my cordless phones.
Hi there one and all. I've managed to get everything going. The cordless phones are working in and out ,same as the corded one.Even the bells are ringing(phone). The only thing is,I can't do all this with the connection through the Master socket cover on.So for now I'm by_passing it. Thanks!!
