We have a brand new grandson. The other set of grandparents sent a congrats card, we thought about it but didn’t as it didn’t seem necessary as we saw the little chap when he was 48 hours old and said all we felt then.
I’ve since wondered if we should have sent a card...comments?

I probably would, if only for the fact that the card will probably be kept for posterity.
Yes, get one. Always nice to look back on. I think you'll feel happier I doing so.

He’s two weeks old now so seems a bit of an afterthought.

Also, I have all the cards from my own birth and my grandparents didn’t send one, nor did my parents when my children were born. Ive never felt any of them should have done.
Do what you feel comfortable with
Some are card people, some aren't. Relax.
I've never sent them to family, like you I have seen the parents and baby in person. only sent to a work colleague.
Send one if its on your mind. Cards are always lovely to receive, and in my case always treasure for years to come. Its never too late to send a lovely card. !!
I shouldn't bother now. I bet the parents are too busy to worry about whether someone sent a card.
I wouldn’t now. You saw him when was newborn. I guess you’ve pics of you holding him.
I don’t think my parents sent me a card when I had my son. They came down to see us. Did the other grandparents see your grandson soon after his birth?

Congrats from me, anyway. I can’t wait to be a granny.
Yes I would. Many parents keep a 'newborn' box containing the outfit the baby left hospital in, the identity bracelet etc. and all the cards. Its nice to show your children who was in their lives when they were born .
You don't say if it's your son or daughter whose baby it is, do you know how they would feel if you don't send a card? If you don't think they'll be bothered, don't worry about it.I made sure to send a card when my grandchildren were born even though I saw them all on the day they were born. None of my children would have been best pleased if I hadn't as like me, they always keep 'important cards'.

It’s our son.
We’re not a very card sending family and I wouldn’t have given it a second thought except the other grandparents sent one.
Am happy with our decision, was just interested to hear other views.
I've never bothered. If anyone ever sent my mother cards after I was born, I never saw them. (They probably said "Gosh, that was quick!") And I don't recall jno jnr every getting any.
Vagus, If you're not really a card sending family then you don't have to send one just because the other grandparents did.x
