Boris Johnson was accused of bottling a Brexit press conference today after failing to appear at a joint statement with Luxembourg's prime minister due to noisy protests.

In a pointed gesture, Xavier Bettel delivered the press conference by himself with an empty podium where Mr Johnson was scheduled to have joined him.

The British Prime Minister had earlier been booed by crowds as he walked up to meet Mr Bettel with a handshake before heading into the Ministry of State in Luxembourg City for discussions.

Demonstrators screamed “Stop the coup, tell the truth” and “Bog off Boris”.

After enduring the protests on the way in, Mr Johnson walked out afterwards without doing his promised appearance in front of the media.

Poor wee lamb.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. We're leaving the EU on 31st Oct. It says so in the govt ads in the papers and in the commercials on TV. The govt are paying for this stuff, so we is leaving!
Fake news. :-)
jno//world countries ranked by GDP per capita

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2004rank.html

Luxembourg at 5, at $106,300 per head.//

Tax evasion lawyers don't come cheap.

//UK at 39, at $44,100.

Also ahead of us: Ireland, Iceland, Andorra ... but at least France are a few hundred dollars below us.//

Don't know much about tiny Andorra. But I do know that Ireland and Iceland both owe the UK £Billions in emergency bailout money.
Iceland have already said they ain't paying.
Ireland are about to default and ask for another handout. (mark my words)

//Perhaps we need more tinpot?//
Or.... countries should learn to live within their means. (Including us)
As an aside. There was a group of Irish lads used to visit our little town regularly a few years ago. Great bunch of lads, liked a serious drink and a bet...never worked.
Told me they got £250 a week signing on. On the one hand I found that hard to believe but on the other, their lifestyles seemed to confirm that.
Anyone know much about it?

22 .54 " if that was the best they could arrange with no plan B " Don't think Boris had a problem with his plan B .***
Plan A go to Luxembourg. Plan B if it gets difficult do a runner.
Plan B, if the Luxembourg government proves unstatesmanlike enough to set a trap to try to humiliate him, refuse to play ball.

There FTFY

The TV reporters have been issues with 'stick on their faces' microphones, to combat the noise of the heckling crowds, so what was the point in our PM addressing the press, if he wouldn't have been heard?

No this little episode was a set-up and Boris left that insignificant 'Johnny foreigner' with egg on his face, Well done Boris.

Another thing that hasn't been taken into consideration was the security threat, remember Jo Cox and what about Anna Soubry a man is in jail for just calling her a Nazi.

But it seems that this mob of nasty left and pro EUers can get away with anything.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, as the Luxembourgish PM was able to give his version of events without being contradicted by our PM, how was he left with egg on his face?
THECORBYLOON

Because like all of his kind, he failed in his attempt to humiliate our PM.

Oh come on AOG. Do you honestly think that the Luxembourg PM's plan was to humiliate Bo Jo? Why on earth would he want to do that?
I think Johnson has always wanted to be - and felt he would be - Prime Minister but he doesn’t want to do all that it entails.
//Why on earth would he want to do that? //

Haaaaaaaaaaaa! Why indeed. :o)
One doesn't need to speculate on reasons, just judge the actions rationally.
As my last answer was deleted I'll re-word it: I believe this gentleman is very very wrong and should not be in charge of a carpark, let alone a country.
..and as for this supposedly affectionate nom de plume that seems to be embraced here: I believe there is an L, a W and a B missing.
