"Spath, I was referring to your comment"

Ah i see Danny.

How I always imagiend Thomas Cook was older people (than myself) only going in as most young people know you can find some amazing bargines online, also we're more comfortable with buying and trusting online purchases.

To me that indicates most of their upcoming audience did not meet the suitable criteria to keep them afloat. Them being Thomas Cook.
My comment has been ignored, whatever - there is a very strange misconception that Thomas Cook had high street offices that older people dawdled into to book their holidays, this is just not the case. As someone else has said, they were online. On top of that I haven't been into town to book a holiday for years, I haven't booked a TC holiday online either - however I have booked flights with them online countless times. The high street bit has zilch to do with their downfall.
"this is just not the case."

Aye, it is. The staffordshire thomas cook was always full with old biddies.

They may have been online.. but do you not know how many stores have closed today / yesterday? About 21.
"As well as weather issues, and stiff competition from online travel agents and low-cost airlines, there were other disruptive factors, including political unrest around the world."

"In addition, many holidaymakers had become used to putting together their own holidays and not using travel agents.

"
Yet you continue to ignore - yes many people put their own holidays together - using Thomas Cook as their airline, booking online. This is so exasperating I'm going to go away.
Never mind Prudie, you are obviously on another plane ;-)
Prudie it does get a bit exasperated if that’s the right word , I sympathise with you, keep well my dear.XX
Prudie i think ur gettin a bit emotional it is simply a discussion OK you made a point it doesn't make my points less valid and it doesn't mean I now have to direct all my answers at your point.

My conclusion of Thomas cook was summed up from a BBC article and from what i sourced online. when the article was read it was only one hour young.

Where have you got this knowledge from? Personal experience I assume or whave you just lost your job at Thomas Cook?
The BBC article has been updated so now it is reading as only 12 minutes old but we all know that is not the case because I posted it 49 minutes ago.
Spath, ummmm and I don’t see eye to eye but that was a totally uncalled for comment from you! that had nothing at all to do with the thread in question, and should be removed!!!
Seconds out - round two!
I made a point that you utterly ignored and yet it was a valid part of the discussion. I'm just trying to educate you that TC is an airline as much as anything else!! Of course I don't work for them but I have booked 2 flights (flight only if you understand that term) with them online this year alone - something I'm pretty sure you haven't. I'm not getting emotional but sometimes you behave like a rebellious teenager and refuse to even listen to anyone else.
Prudie, I agree
Just because my answers are boisterous doesn't mean yours are any less prominent. It's not for me to respond to everyone who contributes to the thread. If you wanted me to respond to your additions you should have directed them at me.

Sorry if there has been any angst
There are some questions to ask....such as this started 8 years ago when they received financial aid - why haven't they restructured ..... why has the CEO skimmed off 8 million in 5 years? Why hasn't the government (and The Spanish Govt too, as it's a huge disaster for them as well as to all the hotels and restaurants impacted on) put together a finance package - they were asking for 200 million and the CAA bill is estimated at 600 million (and not including the unemployment bill and impact on local economies of having 20k folk out of work).... not unless my maths is rusty.....and its we taxpayers who pick up the stub for this neo-Dunkirk operation that's now underway.
Aye, it is. The staffordshire thomas cook was always full with old biddies.

Eh, only one Thomas Cook travel agent in Staffordshire. I think not !
Will it mean that less non returnable "visitors" won't be able to visit us? Does it mean that we can't send as many back whence they came in future?(not that Thomas Cooke was making much on that deal) I, amongst others, don't want it to get colder....Some Like It Hot.
spath - // Anything to add or would you like to keep criticising JJ with Andy? //

I am not criticising him, merely questioning his motives.
Spath //Sorry if there has been any angst//
I'm not speaking on Prudie's behalf, but it would be nice if you would stop dismissing any woman's opinion as being "over-emotional". Thanks x
