If a wind turbine isn't turning, I presume that it isn't producing electricity. Where is the point in having them?

Surely, given the flatness of the landscape, that's always a depressing experience, isn't it?

i find flat lands good as well as hills and dales but there's plenty to see, even the tops of scunthorpe steel works peeping on the horizon beat that !

...and if it is turning, it is generating power. surely, that's the point.

A simple solution to that situation would be to place a large fan, powered by an energy-producing generator, in front of each turbine so that it would turn and thus generate power.
