Today is the 42nd anniversary of the death of Elvis. Scary eh? He has been dead for as long as he was alive. Does anyone remember where they were when they heard that he had died?

Yes, and I remember where I was when the Cuban missile crisis reached a head, and when Bobby Kennedy was killed. Many still frames in my memory.

I was in Germany, patrolling the East/west border.

we lived in Gibraltar I was waddling down the main street heavily pregnant wondering why all the shops were playing elvis songs .

I was returing home from a family holiday in Termonfeckin when we heard that Elvis was dead, my Dad was in tears and my Mam gave him a whack on the head and told him to cop on - we had a young sister in the car that was seriously unwell (reason we were returning from our holiday-cut short)and had to be brought to hospital pdq - she's fine now :)

We had been out for a meal the night before with some friends and went back to our house for a nightcap. We put on some Elvis records that hadn't been played for a very long time only to wake the following morning to the news that he was dead.

I was very upset when Elvis died, i loved his music at the time.

I have always remembered the day he died being a school day in south east England, but its the middle of the summer holidays now? Whats that all about? Maybe we'd gone in for exam results? That would have given me even more to cry about!
