Many years ago my daughter wanted her two front lawns lifted....she likes plants.
Daughter and MrG started and were making a right pig's ear of it. I figured I could do better and sure enough I could. Lovely long and even strips of lawn to be rolled up and donated to a lawn loving friend.
I was quite chuffed til I heard.....You know why your Mum's so good at this....said MrG......it's because she's so short....her knees are closer to the ground than ours and she can nudge the spade handle easier than we could......

The shed in our new house was standing in long grass.....can't call it a lawn.
Yesterday I decided to lift some grass and lay a little path.....and discovered completely hidden under the grass and weeds a nice path that led to the shed and around all four sides......so I set about lifting the lawn.....well long grass......that covered all the paving.

Dave was impressed.....you make that look easy he said.....it must because you're so short and don't have to bend your knees so far......

Dave and the late MrG would have got on so well....... :-)

I think I deserve some Ferrero Rocher and a glass of red, Mamya....if Dave's looking in... :-)

Shortage, LiK!!!!! Shortage??????....x
I have placed all the wine on a very high shelf and hidden the step ladder - that should ensure my indispensability for a while ...

The air ambulance hasn't landed yet, Ael.....and I believe the pilot is tall enough to rescue my supplies........ ;-)
How do you cope when the grass gets too high?

Hi, Cory......Pat up the lane brings his big sit on machine once a week and cuts it...it'll never be a garden it's just land surrounded by trees. We have a patio all around the house with a largish square outside the dining room. I shall concentrate on blinging that up with a pergola, the odd water feature, seating and lights and garden no more.... :-)
Mr BM constantly makes jokes about my lack of height.

Joke is on him now, having moved into a 17th C cottage I can glide thru the low doorways unhindered. Whereas he has permanent scars on his head :)

Indeed, Barmaid! Dave removed one low hanging chandelier....tonight I will move the dining table just to watch him trying to avoid the remaining one over it... :-)
I can't believe what you're saying, Gness.

I can't see how you are going to resist digging up some of the lawn to grow a few bits of this and that. I see a pond in the offing...
Tilly, Gness + pond. What could possibly go wrong?
Question Author
I know, Tilly! The houses along this lane have land but no gardens. I honestly can't see me being able to cultivate this land and having it done professionally would be far too expensive.....already into a good few hundred just to have some of it drained.
The patio around the house if fairly large with a good sized square outside the dining room so I'll concentrate on that.
Dave is online just now choosing someone to make the name sign for this house...the one you chose for us....
Aoibhneas....thank you... :-)
Question Author
A pond! I asked our groundsman about a pond and he did say that it would attract far too many mosquitoes in this area......I'll consider it.
Our over the back neighbours have a large pond....one of the rights of passage here is to be invited up the hill to sample R's homemade wine. Our neighbours did and when Mr Neighbour drove home Mrs Neighbour made him stop by their pond.....jumped out of the car...stripped off and dived into the pond......R's wine is lovely...just lovely and lethal....Dave is in favour of a pond..... :-)
I am so pleased that you picked my name for your house. Hopefully, it will always remind you of me. x

Mosquitos? Forget the pond!
Indeed lol!
