Had a large back molar extracted in hospital yesterday, after fainted and threw up when the dentist tried to do it.

Sedation was fantastic - remember then putting the canula in, then woke up in recovery room with no memory of what had happened.

Thought it was too good to last!

After a day feeling pleasantly woozy and taking painkillers a couple of times, it is clear everything has worn off now!

Mouth swollen like it is full of ball-bearings, too sore to touch, feels like someone is attacking the cavity with a jackhammer, pain is total!

Not much sleep tonight I fear …

God the amount I spend on dentists when I could just have called ummmm.
well the umm procedure
I wdnt recommend

you need to get the roots out ( v bad if you leave them in) and picking at it as above is not the way

(not bad description of an operculum tho)
It's been fine. No pain since it came out.

Thanks for the advice and sympathy all - much appreciated.

It was just a molar, not a wisdom tooth, and it has been stitched, so I have to wait for it to heal up.

Pain is less today, so hopefully I am on the mend.

My jaw is swollen so it looks like I am storing nuts for the winter!!
"....so it looks like I am storing nuts for the winter!!"

A lot like Answerbank in general then. :-)

Feel better.
Glad it's getting better, Andy, I had an abscess when I was a kid and my face was very swollen. I can't really remember the pain but I was in hospital for 5 days! I'm presume drugged up...

//Alcohol, even if it's taken through a straw if need be.//

Yes Balders. A bottle of Scotch and a good few Paracetamol and you'll sleep like the dead I am told.
Glad the pain is a little less Andy.
Well, I certainly hope you didn’t have any memory of it, I’d be asking for a word with the anaesthetist otherwise. But they ought to have given you plenty of painkillers and advice on taking them.

But it will cause pain, your head’s taken a hammering, and some extractions are a lot harder than others.
well his recent operation didnt stop him trying to bite Nigh earlier on today

Lol. And he quickly extracted himself when Nigh, as you call naomi, bit back.
Seems some males on AB are rather wary of intelligent, confident women who can parry with a well informed argument. :-)
um yeah
which AB lovely do you mean?
Hope tomorrow brings even more improvement Andy.

how are the hamster pouches today Andie ?

never heard such a fuss, he even insisted on sedation for a tooth extraction
Question Author
Ael, I didn't insist on anything, my dentist did. Please read the OP before you scoff.
In fairness AEL, some people just can't handle dentists and Andy is clearly one. the Dentist is not going to try to proceed if he's fainting and chucking up all over the place so obviously they'll sedate him, and that would be the dentists decision not andys.

Glad you're feeling a bit better.
it was meant as a joke to lighten the mood, i will desist in future on your threads
i would have thought that my suggestion that you have a tooth extraction without sedation was obviously a ludicrous one ...
