Tomorrow’s the day they give out the secondary school places - fingers crossed I get the place I want for the things (it used to be a sure bet that I’d get them into the secondary I want but demand has changed now that they’ve taken away the free transport). Must be awful for people living in places with ‘good’ schools and ‘bad’ schools - both the ones I’ve put down are good (in terms of results) but vastly different in size, location, etc.

Thanks Mamy - just had a terrible thought, what if some bright spark at the LEA gives them different schools :(
. . . and what if a simple keyboard error meant that 'Hereford' got entered into the system as 'Hertford'?

;-)
Good luck xx if they already have brothers, sisters there, that helps a lot too.

It should be fine but the transport thing is really kicking in now so catchment areas and people’s choices have changed (I want them to go to the small, country secondary (where the others went/go) - it’s the least threatening school I’ve ever been in). They’re both quite small, thing 1 is tiny - they’d be lost in the bigger school (even though they’d get free transport).
Stressy time, isn’t it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
good luck tomorrow
Hope you get the school you want.

Thanks all - we’re lucky, they’re both ‘good’ schools. I just like the first choice, my other kids have/are doing well and it’s small (we live in the Middle Ages so it would suit the things better). I also really like the idea that the teachers get to take their dogs in (‘emotional support dogs’) - not academically relevant but I like it (they’re also getting some pygmy goats).
How did you get on?
