The contestants on tonight’s edition of celebrity Mastermind comprised an Asian man, an openly gay man, a transgender, and a man in a wheelchair. Four boxes ticked. Classic modern BBC PC. How do you feel about the BBC doing this? Did you prefer it when the BBC weren’t obsessed with ticking boxes when lining up people for their programmes, or do you like it this way? I guess there must now be a department at the BBC devoted to making these politically correct choices

I think the OP is correct. The BBC seem to be obsessed with this kind of thing.

I abssolutely preferred it when all programmes consisted of white males. You didn't hear any complaints then, did you? No way.
No jno. That's when we were British and had things in the proper perspective. Now, the BBC lives in the World of John Lennon.
So are you saying the contestants weren't British 10clarion?
What a load of tosh! They were four celebrities - although I must admit I only knew 1 of them - very erudite and entertaining. Loved the show. You don't have to watch you know, just 1 click on the remote - sorted.
The Kremlin are said to plant people on websites like this to cultivate criticism. Just sayin’
Oh...so which long standing AB member has Kremlin links? Just wondering...

*rolls eyes*
Ooops...forgot to ask who's the BBC plant? Gawd...spies everywhere!
I totally agree with this post. BBC PC has reached absurd levels. It looks like every BBC show, including Strictly, must now have the full range of races, genders (including trans), sexual preference, and at least one disabled. They're even having to create "celebrities" out of nonentities just to get some of those boxes ticked. It is truly pathetic
Has anyone else ever wanted a new sort of TV programme where you chuck entitled right wing white supremacists into a Bear Pit to see how they get on? I'd totally watch that...
I'm surprised they let women on mastermind actually...we all know our heads are full of sugar, spice and fluffy kittens.
The contestants on that show were an ex editor of The Independent, currently Media Editor for BBC; a CofE vicar who was in the very successful band The Communards; a drag queen who won Celebrity Big Brother and a landscape gardener who presents Gardeners' World.

A good mix of people, I thought

I very much doubt those were the main reasons they were chosen
I get more annoyed how he rattles on with unnecessary info which is more than you need to answer it and wastes the contestants time.
