I used to love these from the chippy when I was a kid but went off them when I got to about 17. Haven't had one for years and wasgoing to start eating them again when someone told me that they shouldn't really be sold as the sausages aren't really cooked properly (too pink) and they weren't allowed to par cook the sausages, batter them before finishing them off in the fryer again. Is this true?

I think if it were true no chip shop in the country would be allowed to sell them.

There would be a major risk of stomach upset at the least.

Chip shops are subject to health and hygiene standards and the food must be fit to eat.

Twaddle! They've been selling saveloys, and black-, white-, and red-pudding sausages, battered or otherwise, for centuries. Don't tell me they've all always been undercooked.
