One may lose weight and feel that here is helpful to maintain, or perhaps go for a further goal so remain a contributor.

The trouble with the genuine enquiry is that the way it's been phrased, it can be interpreted as a choice between failure, and an inability to leave. Neither are particularly pleasant accusations.

I think the way one words enquiries, particularly on a sensitive subject for those being asked, is rather important.
Tiggerblue my friend has just rang to say sainsburys have the icecream so she is going to get me one . Always worth a try to save that extra inches thanks .
I have lost 1 stone 4lbs now, not dieting, still eating but the secret for me is the pleasure of not having to consider someone else's preferences. The trade off is eating alone and I miss sitting at the table with someone. Eating is now more mindful, without distractions I notice when I an satisfied, and if i leave food on my plate I no longer feel guilty I just make less next time
Well done you rowanwitch. Doesn’t it feel good! It never ceases to amaze me the creative ways people here use to get rid of the unwanted pounds/kilos.
well done Rowan that's one stone less to deal with plus the start of another .I too eat alone . I cant stand silence I have to have tv on with something good to watch and I try to make my tray or setting as attractive as I can .I do sometimes eat in the lounge depending on the mood I am in lol .

I still have nearly ten stone to lose, according to the charts and that will put me at the top of my range, if I hadn't shrunk over the last few years Id have a few pounds more leeway
Rowan when I started on here about 4 years ago with xstitcher I had just over 3 stone to lose and with the help of being on here and confessing all my sins I got there in just over a year .I have struggled with a few pounds on and off but with planning my meals for the week and writing everything down I got there. Xstitcher had quite a bit like me to lose as well but is looking quite trim now .I could very easily put it all back on if I didn't stick to my healthy eating plan but I do have a treat quite often .At the moment I need half a stone off so once I get back to proper dinners and vegs it will come off instead of all the drinks and icecreams I have had now it is cooler weather .
Rowan who dont you start out by dividing that 10 stone up into smaller more doable goals or mile posts which will give you a more realistic challenge. Each milepost will give you a terrific feeling of a job well done and then it’s on to the nest. I did it this way and it worked for me. I hope that you have supportive friends and family and were here to help you all the way. Good luck.

I know that I was busy and worked through lunch yesterday, but down 2 lbs in a day ? Oh well, down's good.
No doing it despite friends who bring goodies. Gym induction today combined with all the gardening I hope to be down a bit more by Monday.

I have stayed the same but I am back on my menus no more icecreams apart for one for a treat .
A late good morning all. I was here yesterday but I can see that my post got lost in the shuffle. Yesterday my weight was up 2 lbs.....water.....and today it’s back to normal. Im enjoying the normal summer days now that the awful heat wave is over....I hope.
Bit too wet & cool this morning.
Glad to get back to sensible eating instead of eating to keep cool
Another 4lb this week it seems a bit quick but with so much to lose its not unreasonable. Back to the gym today, they have set me a very gentle starter programme, but it will go up next week. I am already starting to see a difference in how some of my clothes fit.

Thank you, I am enjoying the process at the moment, cooking food I really enjoy, the gym thing, hobbies instead of snacking. I always said it would be easier when I was on my own. I think not having beer days every week has helped a lot.
