well done rowan you seem to be going well checking everything .I will weigh tomorrow our usual day .
OG what have you been doing wrong this week .
Unsure. Although this period, when I'm only back occasionally, when I can then weigh myself, does mean I've little control over mealtimes or what I have. Daily limits are regularly exceeded :-( Maybe I should stop posting until life is back to normal. (Or I could blame the 7oz rump steak meal last night. That may have added a few lbs.)
You don't have to eat everything on your plate..... it's a hard thing to take on board as we are conditioned to eat and not waste anything. If you are in a situation where you can't control what is dished up eat what are the healthiest bits then if you get a chance supplement with a healthy snack. Even McDonald's do bags of carrot sticks or a small bag of raw nuts. I will be staying with a friend next week, I will be taking a big bag of treats with me, all luxuries but all really good for you. I will also offer to cook on a couple of days but if I put a pound or two on I won't lose any sleep over it. I haven't seen this friend for over thirty years and I suspect late nights and too much wine will be involved.
Thanks, but raw carrot sticks and nuts would go straight in the bin. To be successful I need to have full control and real time monitoring, and that's problematic at present. (Hasn't been fully the case for years TBH.) Ah well...

Good luck with the trip.
Good morning all. Whoops up a pound......I’ll cut down on my fruit intake which hasn’t been following the amount I know I should have.....so easy to go OTT when it’s a seasonal thing.
The specialist dietitian I saw a couple of years ago said she had never seen a higher fruit and veg intake on someone so overweight. She just said cut back on grapes and always have bananas on the green side of ripe. She also suggested I should be a bit careful with melon which can give a lot of sugar for very little in the way of useful nutrition. She said no more than three fruit portions a day and ideally to have one at every meal. I moved the fruit bowl away from the kitchen door, as i used to pick out something almost every time I came through it
That sounds like good advice Rowan. Keep the portions small and even though they aren’t, think of them as a little treat to finish off your meal. I find that by making things small they take on a special enjoyment and polish my halo at the same time. Mind set is so important I think.
I don't portion control berries, cherries, or mango because of the anti oxidants, I choose black grapes for the higher levels of reseveratol, funnily enough I rarely have apples any more unless it's with cheese as a very special treat and I tend to buy the donut peaches and nectarines as they are smaller anyway. I am more about what benefits individual foods have, mainly because I am addressing other health problems at the same time. Luckily I am quite scientific and there is good research out there. What it really comes down to is eat the rainbow, the stronger the colour the better and if it takes forever to chew it's probably got fibre.
good morning all well it has paid off no snacking this week back to proper healthy meals .down 1lb . I am not into eating lots of fruit I am afraid I eat the wrong sort good advice from you both .
What has worked for me may not work for you but here goes anyhow. For me mind set is half the battle and regimenting meals and 2 daily snacks help there. What ever is going into my moth is planned........not doing that before was part of my downfall and since I’m at home most of the time there are so many opportunities for food popping.
Another thing is knowing that your body is a big liar. It will tell you that it’s hungry when all it wants is a treat fix. Ask it how some broccoli sounds and the truth will out. Having fixed times or panning ahead for snacks definitely helped me with these yearnings.
4 and a half weeks in..total loss 21lbs... about 3lb a week now after dramatic first few weeks... cut out fruit now and having veggies for dinner ..cott cheese on rye crispbread for lunch..slimfast drink for brekkie...and a sugar free( home made) wee jelly for a treat in the evening...not feeling hungry..feeling much more energetic and better for it...few more weeks I think...
I am going by what does my body really tell me, chocolate, try a high magnesium food, crisps maybe something salty. Wouldn't normally add salt to anything but after the gym I could murder a bag of walkers. I am being honest with myself If I know its a treat I really crave i ask myself why, if it is because I am feeling low or sad I promise myself a treat that isnt about food, so far this month I have two new nail polishes and a new sweater. Chocolate would be cheaper.
hmmmm..there's a nice pair of boots I fancy ! lol
MM when I done a diet like that years ago I got similar weight off quite quick but I putit on twice as fast . It is best to start as you mean to go on with a healthy eating plan and by planning your meals for eat week you then get a rough idea of what you are doing wrong apart from the cheats .Then that way you don’t have a sudden change .might work for you but I still say you are taking it off too fast . You will lose 3lb a week if you have an excessive amount to lose for a start but slows down after a few weeks .
Has anyone tried the Lose It app? I`ve just downloaded it as I would like to lose a few pounds before a holiday in a few weeks time. It is a glorified calorie counter really. I find the site slow as it's an app so I can't use it on Windows. Just wondered if anyone has had any success with it.
Yes windilla there is only one thing to do with these quick fixes for weight loss and that is to walk on by. You WILL put back + more than you loose and nobody wants that.
Bought new trousers a few weeks ago, thought Id wear them today, had to take two inches off the waist before I could and the top that goes with them will need taking apart and reassembling at least a size maybe two less
Rowan, have you tried shrinking them first....sometimes that works.
Just needed to jam a cushion down the front.
Much easier.
Only a man would say that OG. I'm pretty sure that most of us have been through 9 months a few times with no pillow needed. :-)).
